October Fests And A Few of Brooklyn’s Best!

The summer is officially over and we welcome October, where the layers come out in full fall fashion. Warm colors come to the forefront as the days fade away and the foliage pops off in the parks. This month we bring in the new season with great places to enjoy the Oktoberfest, social events and dinner for two, or out with the whole crew!

Normally we would pack this monthly with a ton of great spots to go, shop and eat, but we’re gonna switch it up a little this month and keep it slim with a few key spots!

Arts & Culture: We all know DUMBO is the Mecca of the modern Art Scene in Brooklyn, obscure to the neighboring communities these world renowned Artists work tirelessly on new projects and installations in these huge yet unassuming warehouse buildings that line the waterfront. A place where you can still find that huge loft like Soho used to be. Haven’t you ever wanted to see what goes on behind the scenes? Just for a glimpse? Well come to DUMBO for October’s First Thursday Gallery Walk and you’re likely to get the chance!!.

This first Thursday of every month‚ and every first Thursday after, the galleries of DUMBO will stay open late, and hosting special events and receptions. Curate your own evening of art viewing by visiting any or all participating venues. It’s something you won’t want to miss! For that insider’s look, join Art in DUMBO for a Tour of The Gallery Walk. Sign up for a free docent-led tour of two October exhibitions. Sign up for the Insider’s Tour here

All First Thursday attendees are invited to end their evening at our favorite DUMBO hot spot, Superfine,

which is not only a hop and skip away, but whose First Thursday Happy Hour also extends to 9 pm. And that’s pretty late! So hop over there after for a cocktail or dinner and talk about the World of gallery art!

Beer: There are great Brew Houses all over Brooklyn but Gowanus is getting wild this October with their newest edition Wild East Brewery, which plans to open late October, at 623 Sackett St., Brooklyn, NY 11217. The owner proudly refers to it as “swanky” and we all need a little of that in our lives! SO we’re excited!

The streamlined design boasts a horseshoe shaped bar coming off the wall, while the back glass wall in the back allows you to look into the production space.”

The taproom seats up to 90 beer connoisseurs and has tap lines for 20 that will eventually be all Wild East’s Hazy Hop creations.

Their niche is rustic farmhouse style, specializing in barrel aging

These three brewing partners, have had some success as homebrewers in the past, and this time they intend on using as many ingredients they can find right here in the State. Our Because our ingredients have a slightly different flavor, it’ll be something new (York) and unique!

Gowanus was the ideal location, but not just because one of the partners is a local… It’s got great real estate for a growing business like this, with a demographic to boot!! Right next to neighborhoods like Cobble, Hill and Park Slope! Not bad!

They are going to have a bunch of events to introduce the space all month! Wild East Brewing (623 Sackett St. between Third and Fourth avenues in Gownaus, www.wildeastbrewing.com). Opening soon

#LiveAtTheArchway! In the traditional #Oktoberfest style! Polka bands will grace the stage and get the party going! A “Pick-your-own-apples” photo experience is Complementary for that goofy selfie!. Foodie: The Walters on the south west corner of Washington Park , the corner of DeKalb Ave. and Washington Place. In Ft. Green. Rye is a delight that provides a perfect neighborhood dining experience. They’ve perfected their craft way before coming to Grand Street in williamsburg over a decade ago, and I couldn’t be happier to enjoy their amazing menu in Ft.Greene before shopping at the farmers market outside Ft. Greene Park, just across the street.

Outdoors: Get outdoors this Friday and visit the Botanical Garden for FREE Fridays. Every Friday the gates open up for all to see. Brooklyn’s Garden is a beautiful landscape of lawns, and plants, perfectly curated and manicured. It’s well worth the stroll to take in the beauty of the season!
